Jeannie House is a long time artist in various mediums and a member of Mountain Shadows Artist Association where she has won a number of awards over the years. She is an active participant and studio host in the ARTrails show each March.
Jeannie states: “I am mostly self-taught and have been painting most of my life. Art was always with me when we moved; I got to see a lot of beautiful country. Times were hard then just after World War II. I always had a pencil and paper. I learned to draw by sketching my family, friends, animals, flowers, etc. My first award came when I was in 3rd grade. At school, I got to paint posters and play props.
I have worked with an interior designer that had me painting on just about anything: stucco, plaster walls, furniture, etc. I love to paint landscapes, portraits and still lifes but my first love is drawing and pastels are a close second. My work has been shown in several museums, galleries and art shows. I have taught art on and off for the last 20 years. I love teaching because of how much joy it gives me and others. I work in most mediums.”
